Winter has officially arrived, no matter what the calendar says. With Northern Michigan covered by a blanket of snow, gone are the days when neighbors in our small town dropped by to sit on the front porch and chat. The porch is empty now; the furniture stored in the garage till next spring. The days are short, the nights are long, and friends and family now gather round the fireplace instead of under the stars to share in a story or two.
I'm not a big fan of winter. To my way of thinking S-N-O-W is a four-letter word. We each have our favorite seasons, and summertime is mine. Hot sunny days, crisp cool nights and a delightful breeze blowing in off the lake. Maybe instead you prefer the spectacular color show Mother Nature puts on when the autumn leaves turn; or wintertime, with its icy landscapes that snatch your breath away. Or springtime, as the world wakes up from a long winter's nap and falls in love all over again.
No matter what the season, it's a never ending story.
And who among us doesn't love a good story?
